Casa Fierro Bacanora’s story is a paradox shaped by Sonora’s history. In 1915, a decades-long prohibition on Bacanora was imposed, and General García—great-grandfather to one of our founders—was responsible for enforcing the ban. Meanwhile, families across the region continued producing the spirit in secret, determined to protect their tradition of distilling Bacanora since the 16th Century.

Generations later, that history has come full circle. Casa Fierro was founded in 2023 by two friends who wished to honour Sonora, its wild agaves, and the people who safeguarded Bacanora through decades of uncertainty. Having once survived in silence, this spirit is now shared with pride.

Bacanora has a Denomination of Origin, as it is the only agave spirit made exclusively from Agave Pacífica (Angustifolia Haw), a variety that grows in the mineral-rich mountains of Sonora under the harsh desert sun. Each batch of Casa Fierro reflects Sonora’s extreme and ever-changing climate, creating distinct summer and winter expressions and natural variation from batch to batch.
